Flex Array series hits the States, part 1

US distributor, American Sound & Music (AM&S), takes Turbosound’s brand new Flex Array system on an East Coast tour and the reaction has been nothing short of amazing.

Launched in the US amidst considerable excitement at the recent InfoComm08 exhibition in Las Vegas, and combining elements of line array theory with virtual point source technology in one product, Flex Array is the first product to offer the possibility to adapt the same loudspeaker system to a wide range of venue types and audience sizes with minimal rental inventory.

The first stop on the tour was New York City and Advanced Audio Technology (AATNY) where AM&S took part in a shoot out between Flex Array and another high-end manufacturer’s line array and Flex Array did not disappoint.

“This was the first time I had heard the Flex Array system,” says Joe Lodi of AATNY. “For such a compact size cabinet, the sound quality is very nice. The highs and mids are all really smooth.”

Lodi feels that the system has many advantages. “The size is extremely small for what it does,” he adds. “The cabinets are very nicely engineered and the rigging is easier than anything we have ever used.

“In my opinion, Flex should work very well in the US, just for the ease of use alone. It also does a lot for what it is. It is very, very, loud!”
