Australia Day in Melbourne.
Kiss My Grass was held on Australia Day at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and was a huge success with over 20,000 people through the gates. The festival, run by Kiss FM with Future Entertainment, showcased a massive line-up of DJ's and bands.
"Pro Light and Sound provided audio for the festival and for the third year running used Turbosound Aspect® for the main stage.
The system for the main stage consisted of a combination of ground stacked and flown cabinets. The total system included twelve TA-880H mid-highs, eighteen TA-880L dual 15" subs, six TSW-218's dual 18" subs, and two Aspect Wide TA-500's. The system was configured with three TA-880H and nine TA-880L ground stacked per side with a single TA-500 for infill. A centre block of six TSW-218 subs provided additional low-frequency support. The ground stacked system was complemented by two flown delay clusters, each consisting of three TA-880H mid-highs to cover the grassed areas of the bowl.
The system was powered by Lab.gruppen fP and FP+ amplifiers with Turbosound loudspeaker management DSP's.
As with previous years, the system was quick to rig and required very little tuning. A quick simulation in GigMate™ software confirmed the correct aiming angle for the delay clusters and provided coverage on the hill whilst working within the strict sound limits for the nearby residential areas. The system ran at around 115dBC (at the desk) without a single noise complaint.
