The Four Seasons Lounge at Burwood RSL Club in Sydney was recently fitted out with a self-powered, networkable Turbosound NuQ speaker system. Supplied by Almost Anything Audio, the system covers both FOH and foldback duties for a wide range of acts from duo's to talent shows to bands.

The system consists of nine NuQ-10DP's and a B-18DP subwoofer. The NuQ-10DP is a compact full range cabinet with a 10" LF driver and 1" compression driver with on-board 500w amplification and DSP. The B-18DP is a single 18" bandpass subwoofer with on-board 1600w amplification and DSP. The NuQ-10DP's are configured two per side with an additional fill box per side delayed and positioned further down the room. Three more NuQ-10DP's are provided for foldback. The horns in the NuQ's are rotated allowing the flown speakers to be mounted horizontally on U-brackets ensuring sight lines are not affected.

The six flown cabinets are all networked and linked via CAT5 for control and monitoring via a laptop. All system EQ and delay is in the cabinets and can be adjusted as required with TurboDrive software.

Bill Millard, Technical Manager at Burwood RSL, commented: "The system is great. The clarity from the NuQ's is outstanding and we get a lot of positive comments about the sound. I love it." The pattern control of the system was a pleasant surprise. Bill added: "We can have a thumping rock show but people on the other side of the room can order their drinks and food and still carry on a conversation. It's perfect for this room."
